Fun at the Library

We've been going to the library on Thursdays for puppet shows and kid's entertainment of other sorts. This week we saw some nocturnal animals from the Houston zoo. The kids got to "pet" a chinchilla, an alligator, and a hedgehog.

I'm getting some really great smiles of recognition from Judith, who is now 2 months old. Of course, they are seldom caught on camera although they are becoming more frequent. She's sleeping for some pretty good stretches through the night.
Ezra's still having a hard time adjusting to being away from our house and missing Daddy.
But Jonas is usually pretty happy.

Happy Father's Day

For Mike:
Sorry that the pictures aren't the greatest. If I had had more foresight, I would have had Laney do some portraits of the kids BEFORE now so that we would have really great pictures to show you for Father's Day. But alas, family picture day is scheduled for the day after Father's Day. :( But I took these today and I hope they make you smile. Thanks for being such a great Daddy, husband, and airman. I love you!

Judith says: Dear Daddy, I'm giving you the gift of not having to change my diapers for the next 6 months.

Jonas says: Dear Daddy, I give you the gift of not being bitten or slobbered on for the next 6 months.
Ezra says: Dear Daddy, I give you the gift of not climbing on top of you to sit on your head for the next 6 months. The Allison children say: Daddy, we're sad that you're not here with us, but we're so proud that you are serving our country and providing for us in such a special way. We love you, pray for you everday, and know that you'll be back to play with us before we know it!

Happy Father's Day!!

Jonas' 2nd Birthday Party

We are back in Texas--to stay for a while. Mike is set to leave for Afghanistan in the very near future. He will be there for 6 months and with 3 little ones, I thought it would be
best for me to be near my family while he is gone. They have
already been soooo much help to me and while I miss my house, my things, my precious friends, and church in Germany, I think Texas is the place for us to be right now.
We've been in town for a week and yesterday was Jonas' 2nd birthday. He was such a happy boy on his special day (he's a happy boy most of the time). We had been reading Curious George stories every night at bedtime, so I think he liked his CG themed party.
We had lunch before cake and
while he wasn't a fan of his chicken salad
sandwich, he had great fun with the pineapple.

Then we visited for a little while and everyone chatted with Mike via webcam on Skype.
Then it was time for cake. He definitely wanted to blow out the candles and was so close that I let him continue to try. He finally got both of them blown out. There was also a considerable amount of slobber on the cake. He ate that piece. :)
I love the looks of triumph on his face after he'd succeeded.

And then there were presents...
